As the Office of Fair Trading recently announced its referral of the proposed merger between Barr and Britvic to the Competition Commission, new reports are emerging over concerns held by Barr employees over an estimated 500 jobs lost if the merger succeeds. Member of the Scotish Parliament Jamie Hepburn told reporters that he is concerned over the uncertainty of the status of employees if the merger were to be approved, and that while there was no guarantee of total job loss, the companies are not holding to a “no jobs will go” position. The merger is proposed for $2.25 billion.
