Zimbabwe: Largest city’s Council investigated for monopolistic behavior

Reports are emerging that the Competition and Tariff Commission has begun probing Harare City Council. Harare is Zimbabwe’s largest city. According to a statement by the CTC, the authority is investigating the body for alleged monopolistic behavior, including “excessive pricing, price discrimination and delivery of poor services not commensurate with the charges.” The statement did not, however, say specifically the instances of the alleged anticompetitive behavior or when they occurred.
