Bulgaria: Electric company faces charges of monopolistic abuse

Bulgarian Energy Holding EAD has announced the electric company is facing an antitrust probe by the European Commission over alleged abuse of dominance stemming from possible monopolistic abuse in the sector. Specifically, the E.C. will reportedly look into whether BEH’s electricity supply agreements prevented the sale of electricity outside of Bulgaria. A spokesperson for the Commission also said that investigators will probe BEH’s activities within the gas sector, and specified that the investigation will examine BEH’s activity in the E.U. since 2007.
