In efforts to salvage a deal to buy TNT Express NV, United Parcel Service Inc. is reportedly considering allowing rivals to use its trucks, planes and warehouses for fixed prices to send their items. UPS wants to buy TNT for $6.67 billion and is hoping the guarantees that would allow competitors to use UPS’s services would help to remedy concerns by the European Union over the deal. The E.U.’s main concern is a loss of competition in the process of overnight shipments; UPS hopes this plan would salvage competitors’ ability to do so.
