Italy: Antitrust Authority gives routes to Easyjet, Alitalia threatens ‘war’

Italy’s Antitrust Authority has granted seven slots on an air route to Easyjet, formerly in possession of Alitalia. Alitalia is quoted as saying that if provoked, they will start a “war” with Easyjet; Easyjet was quoted as saying there is “room for more than one carrier” on the route that extents from Milan to Rome. The Antitrust Authority’s ruling has also met resistance by Meridianafly-Air Italy and says it will take steps to protect its leverage in the market.
