The nation’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection has launched an inquiry over concerns of price-fixing amongst television broadcasters for the sale of rights to show football matches last September. The antitrust authority is concerned that Sportfive, who holds the rights to the broadcasts for the 2014 Football World Cup, fixed prices paid by viewers to on pay-per-view. The proceedings are expected to take up to five months and involved 11 companies that may have violated antitrust law.
