Bulgaria: Possible price-fixing cartel among taxi market in capital

The Commission for Protection of Competition may investigate the capital’s taxi sector for an alleged price-fixing cartel, according to reports by CPC chairperson Petko Nikolov. Nikolov declined to say whether the CPC has found any proof or evidence of a cartel, however. Only days ago, taxis in Sofia, the nation’s capital, increased prices by 20 percent. Representatives in the market justified the increase with rising gas prices.
