India: CCI takes on investigations into oil pricing, government’s role at same time
The Competition Commission of India is now keeping a close eye on the government’s practices of unauthorized intervention into oil prices. Simultaneously, the CCI will also investigate the companies who are being investigated for inflated oil pricing. Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum will be under investigation over an observation that the three companies have very similar pricings on their auto and cooking fuels despite a discrepancy between the three in price of production. The CCI will also look into the role the government plays in the regulation of oil prices.
