In what began as a copyright infringement case, 3Taps is now accusing Craigslist.org with dominating the market with Craigslist’s cease-and-desist letters and copyright suits. Craigslist had originally sued 3Taps for redistributing Craigslist ads without permission; while the redistribution increases visibility of the ad, it does so without credit given to Craigslist as the original poster. In a counterclaim, 3Taps is now suing Craigslist, also arguing that the redistribution of Craigslist ads is simply the gathering of public information. 3Tap has filed the suit asking authorities to bar Craigslist from “sham lawsuits” and “copyright misuse.”
