U.K.: British Airways fined $1.4M for price-fixing scheme

British Airways has been issued a $1.4 million fine by the South African Competition Commission for participating in a price-fixing cartel in South Africa, where the complaints were filed. The airline’s air cargo carrier admitting to the charges. The settlement was approved Monday in an agreement with South Africa’s Competition Tribunal that ends a six-year probe into the matter involving fixed fuel surcharge rates.
