U.K.: Midcounties Co-operative Limited responds to OFT competition concerns over merger

In response to the OFT’s competition concerns over Midcounties Co-operative Limited’s acquisition of grocery and fuel retailer Tuffin Investments Limited, Midcounties has submitted potential remedies and the OFT has announced those remedies are now under review. The OFT previously expressed concerns that the acquisition would potentially bar new convenience stores from entering the market in four specific, local areas, possibly hindering consumer choice.
