Jury verdict against Toshiba, but company may not have to pay damages

A jury for the U.S. District Court in San Francisco) has handed down a verdict against Toshiba. A class action filed in 2007 charged the electronic company with colluding with other manufacturers to fix the price of LCD panels. The jury sided with the plaintiff class and fined Toshiba $87 million. However, in its press release, Toshiba states that “[g]iven credits for settlements by other defendants, Toshiba expects that it will not have to pay any damages as a result of this verdict, even after trebling under U.S. antitrust laws.”
