Union imposes excessive requirements on court expert hopefuls

Spain’s National Competition Commission (CNC) has opened formal proceedings against the Inter-Professional Union of the Community of Madrid (Unión Interprofesional de la Comunidad de Madrid – UICM) for possible anti-competitive practices in violation of article 1 of the Spanish Competition Act 15/2007. A complaint charged the UICM with imposing additional requirements on those who sought membership, and also on those who sought qualification of Advanced Specialist in the Prevention of Accidents at Work to be on the official list of court experts. A preliminary investigation by the CNC found prima facie evidence of such an infringement.
