China’s largest phone-equipment maker Huawei Technologies has filed an abuse of dominance lawsuit in the European Union against InterDigital. Huawei accuses InterDigital of refusing to license 3G technology patents and imposing unreasonable and discriminatory conditions on license fees.
InterDigital owns about 1,3000 U.S. patents related to mobile phones. It had filed a case last year with the U.S. International Trade Commission and federal court, alleging that Huawei and three other phone companies (Nokia Oyj, ZTE Corp. and LG Electronics) had infringed its patents related to 3G technology.
