The European Commission has approved the proposed joint venture between Freudenberg and Trelleborg. The joint venture, Trelleborg Vibracoustic, combines the two companies’ anti-vibration systems for passenger cars and commercial vehicles. The Commission determined that the joint venture will be constrained by strong competitors in the market for the supply of anti-vibration systems for automobiles. Consumers can also exercise competitive constraints on the joint venture, through tender-like procedures to select suppliers.
