Nîmes airport probed for state aid and agreements with Ryanair

The European Commission has opened an in-depth state aid investigation into Nîmes airport. The Commission is examining financial arrangements between the airport and regional authorities to determine if public subsidies that the Chamber of Commerce received went toward operating costs in violation of EU state aid rules.

    The Commission is also looking at rebates and marketing agreements between the airport and Ryanair. Such arrangements may have given Ryanair an undue economic advantage. Moreover, some public aid may have been passed on to the airline.
