Texas horse owners claim ban on registering cloned horses violates Sherman Act

Two Texas horse owners, Jason Abraham and Gregg Veneklasen, have brought an antitrust lawsuit against the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) for their rule against cloned horses. The AQHA’s Rule 227 prevents the registration of cloned horses. The horse owners claim that this rule monopolizes commerce in violation of the Sherman Act. Abraham and Veneklasen allege that DNA tests confirm that their cloned horses are genetically quarter horses that should be registered with the AQHA.
