Taiwan Solidarity Union blasts TFTC for not investigating state-run power companies

The Taiwan Solidarity Union has criticized the Taiwan Fair Trade Commission (TFTC) for failing to investigate two state-run companies. The TFTC had launched probes into 23 consumer products upon suspicion of price-fixing. Products include beverages, sugar, gasoline, automobiles, eggs, and alcohol.

    However, the TFTC found that there was no price-fixing between Taipower and CPC Corporation, electricity and petroleum firms. The Taiwan Solidarity Union claims that the companies’ price hikes are responsible for the increased prices of other products services, which go toward covering the costs of increased fuel and electricity prices. The Union demands a completed probe of Taipower and CPC by the end of June.
