Stephen E. Hruby, the former Vice President of a New York-based tax liens company, has pleaded guilty to bid-rigging at auctions for municipal tax liens in New Jersey. From December 2002 to February 2009, Hruby worked with co-conspirators to allocate bids to purchase tax liens at non-competitive interest rates.

This is the seventh guilty plea coming out of the DOJ’s ongoing investigation into municipal tax lien auctions. The terms of Hruby’s plea agreement require him to cooperate with the DOJ.
