Cofeco finds America Movil to be dominant, opening door to price and quality regulations
The Federal Competition Commission has unanimously found America Movil to be dominant in the mobile-phone Mexican market. America Movil had appealed the finding of its dominance. Cofeco’s ruling allows America Movil to have its prices and quality regulated.
The competition watchdog also overturned a decision finding Grupo Iusacell dominant for completing wireless calls on its own network, and it also partially reversed a finding of dominance for Telefonica.
