Questionnaires about meetings sent to Vodafone, France Telecom, Deutsche Telekom, and others

The European Commission has sent questionnaires to Vodafone, France Telecom, Telecom Italia, Deutsche Telekom, and Telefonica. A questionnaire was also sent to telecom trade association GSMA. The Commission seeks to determine if a series of meetings held since 2010 constituted collusion; the meetings concerned strategy, policy, and technical cooperation. The meetings were started by France Telecom CEO Stephane Richard.

    Reuters reports that Deutsche Telekom and Telecom Italia assert that the meetings were transparent. According to industry sources, lawyers were present at the meetings and the EC received written accounts of each meeting.
