Woolworths and Cole suppliers complain to ACCC over supermarkets’ bullying tactics

    Woolworths and Coles suppliers have responded to Rod Sims’ call to report complaints about the supermarket chains’ “unconscionable conduct” and alleged bullying tactics. According to Sims, the suppliers range from small producer suppliers to multinational companies.

    The practices that Woolworths and Coles allegedly have been engaging in stem from price wars between the two companies. The acts range from squeezing out branded goods in favor of generic-label foods by decreasing shelf space, to encouraging suppliers to invest in infrastructure and expansion, only to ask for discounts after suppliers had gone into debt to fund such efforts.
