New decree strengthens antitrust enforcement

The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has signed decree no. 114, a measure that strengthens antitrust enforcement. The decree grants heads of the Department of the Ministry of Economy on pricing policy, regional executive committees and Minsk City Executive Committee the right to assign spot checks of compliance; provides direct responsibility for the abuse of economic entities’ dominant position, and; establishes a fining system for officials failing to perform duties required under antitrust law. in the commodity markets and the anticompetitive actions of officials.
