Proposed reforms to Fair Trade Law: increased price-fixing penalty and forgiveness policy

    Two Taiwan Fair Trade Commission officers, Wu Shiow-ming (Chairman) and Lu Ying-shay (Minister) have proposed amendments to the Fair Trade Law. The reforms will (1) raise the maximum fine for price-fixing to 10 percent of the penalized companies’ business revenue of the previous year, and (2) create a forgiveness policy to encourage whistleblowers.
