Jones Day Nabs Koren Wong-Ervin as Partner in Antitrust & Competition Law Practice
On Monday, Jones Day announced that Koren Wong-Ervin has joined as a partner in its Antitrust & Competition Law Practice. Ms. Wong-Ervin will be based in Jones Day’s Washington Office.
Ms. Wong-Ervin has almost 20 years of experience practicing antitrust law as a government attorney, in-house counsel, and as a private practice attorney. She has represented defendants and plaintiffs in high-stakes antitrust litigation disputes, and she has advised some of the world’s largest technology companies in domestic and foreign competition law investigations. Ms. Wong-Ervin is also a recognized industry thought leader who has testified before Congress on domestic and international antitrust issues, and her scholarship has been cited by courts and the Department of Justice in antitrust cases.
At Jones Day, Ms. Wong-Ervin joins a globally integrated Antitrust & Competition Law Practice, which has successfully represented clients in many of the most challenging and complex antitrust matters, including transactions, investigations, litigation, and compliance counseling. The group includes a network of lawyers in business centers worldwide, providing clients with depth in all areas of antitrust law across the U.S., Europe, and Asia Pacific regions.
“We are delighted to welcome Koren to Jones Day. She brings a tremendous amount of experience to the table: successful outside counsel, recognized antitrust thought leader, former in-house director of antitrust litigation for a major tech company, and attorney advisor at the Federal Trade Commission,” said Craig Waldman, Co-Leader of Jones Day’s Antitrust & Competition Law Practice. “She is passionate about what she does, and we can’t wait for her to get started.”
Ms. Wong-Ervin has authored more than 70 articles and spoken at more than 300 domestic and international conferences. Her scholarship covers a broad range of topics, including vertical mergers and restraints, acquisitions of potential competitors, consummated mergers, multi-sided platforms, and the intersection of antitrust and intellectual property.
“Koren has a deep understanding of the multiple perspectives that are often at play when working with government regulators, corporate executives, and judges to resolve complex antitrust law matters,” said Noel Francisco, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day’s Washington Office and the former Solicitor General of the United States from 2017-2020. “Her addition
to our Antitrust Practice further deepens our strength in counseling clients in the U.S. and worldwide on competition law issues that will be resolved here in Washington.”
Ms. Wong-Ervin earned her law degree from the University of California Law San Francisco and her undergraduate degree from Santa Clara University.
“I have long admired Jones Day for the extraordinary legal talent they bring to every client engagement and the commitment they maintain in operating as one integrated global law firm,” said Ms. Wong-Ervin. “I am delighted to join the Antitrust Practice and to work alongside some of the most experienced and highly respected lawyers in our profession right here in Jones Day’s Washington Office.”
