Latham & Watkins LLP has added an attorney to its Antitrust & Competition Practice, welcoming Andrew Forman, a former Deputy Assistant Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, as a partner in its Washington, D.C. office.

    Forman, who held his DOJ post from 2022 to 2025, now joins the firm’s Litigation & Trial Department, bringing with him public sector and private practice experience. According to a statement from the firm, Forman played a role in directing civil antitrust investigations and enforcement actions during his time with the DOJ, with a particular focus on policy formulation and strategic enforcement across a variety of industries.

    Per a statement released by the firm, Forman collaborated with both domestic and international enforcement agencies, including the Federal Trade Commission, state attorneys general, and global competition authorities. His portfolio included merger reviews, non-merger conduct cases, and oversight of policy efforts related to interlocking directorates, artificial intelligence, bank consolidations, and Hart-Scott-Rodino compliance.

    The industries touched by Forman’s work span a wide range, including technology, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, financial services, aerospace, and consumer goods. Prior to his DOJ leadership role, he practiced antitrust law for over 15 years in the private sector, and earlier in his career, served at the FTC, where he investigated mergers and acquisitions.

    According to a statement from Mandy Reeves, Managing Partner of Latham’s Washington, D.C. office, Forman’s arrival bolsters the firm’s already robust capabilities in complex civil enforcement and competition matters. Reeves emphasized that Forman’s mix of regulatory experience and private-sector insight enhances the firm’s ability to deliver top-tier counsel to its clients.

    Mike Egge, Global Chair of Latham’s Antitrust & Competition Practice, noted in a separate statement that the global demand for high-level merger control expertise is at an all-time high, making Forman’s addition to the team especially timely.
