Argentina: Telecomms Authority greenlights ‘Quadruple-Play’ for telephone operators

 |  January 9, 2018

Argentina’s telecommunications authority ENACOM has authorized phone companies Claro and Telefónica to provide cable television services in different cities throughout the country, providing so-called ‘Quadruple-play’ services.

The board of the national body made the decision at its first meeting in 2018, when approving new regulations that “open the convergence market in the country, guaranteeing diversity in the offering of services for users.”

The president of ENACOM, Miguel de Godoy, said that in this new scenario “the State not only accompanies but also promotes the development of convergent services such as quadruple play”. This possibility means “ultimately, more offers for users and better quality in communications.”
