Allianz to acquire property division of French insurance co.

The European Commission approved Allianz’s purchase of property and casualty brokerage-related activities of Gan Eurocourtage of Groupama. Before clearing the deal, the authority investigated possible anticompetitive outcomes in the non-life insurance and assistance services market in France, and concluded that since the market share increase was negligible and plenty of competitors existed, the transaction raised no competition concerns.
