Animal feed deal between Agricola and Forfarmers cleared

The European Commission has cleared Forfarmers’ proposed acquisition of Agricola. Forfarmers is a holding company for agricultural commodities producers and sellers. Agricola is the holding company for BOCM Pauls, a U.K. animal feed producer. The acquisition would result in only a “limited increment in market share,” and so there was little risk of market foreclosure, the Commission determined. Furthermore, there would be sufficient competitors in the markets for the supply of certain types of animal feed in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Germany.
