Argentina: Bayer sows more seeds in South America

German chemical conglomerate Bayer announced plans for its unit Bayer CropScience to acquire Argentina-based soybean firm FNSemillas, according to a press release. The acquisition marks Bayer’s first entry into the nation’s market.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed by the parties, though they did confirm the buyout remains subject to regulatory approval within Argentina.

This marks the latest expansion for Bayer’s crop business in South America; in the last three years, the company has acquired soybean businesses within Brazil.
