Argentina’s government will once again license broadcasting rights for their First Division professional soccer league games. The announcement ends several years of monopolization by the State, through the ‘Futbol Para Todos’ TV program. The new show’s new management will receive $13 million from other broadcasters for the rights.
Open air TV channels Canal 13 (Grupo Clarín) and Telefé (Telefónica) will begin broadcasting the Summer Tournament teams played by locals Boca Juniors, River Plate, Racing and Independiente, while Canal 9 (Albavisión), América (UNO Medios) and TV Pública will share broadcasts for San Lorenzo FC on a rotating basis.
The move also grants te Argentine Football Association (AFA) broadcasting rights for the Second Division Nacional B and Copa Argentina matches, as well as all First Division rights for foreign broadcasting.
