Armenia: Watchdogs keep close ties on prices ahead of holidays

Armenian competition authorities said they do not believe price-fixing will occur ahead of the holiday shopping season, reassuring consumers that they will avoid price hikes as New Year spending picks up.

    To be sure, the nation’s Economic Competition Protection Commission said it will keep an extra critical watch on the markets, especially those with few competitors.

    Further, the regulator vowed to crack down on illegitimate price discounts: “The companies whose announced discount will prove to be a mere bluff will be punished,” the regulator’s head, Artak Shaboyan, said.
