Asia: Budget airline Cebu Pacific eager for upcoming single market plan

As members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations ready to launch a single market economy next year, reports say budget airline Cebu Pacific is expecting positive results from the plans that will open up new routes for the carrier.

    Cebu Air officials spoke with reporters at the Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines to discuss the single market plans, and said that boosted tourism and more routes are expected to bring new business to the airline.

    Cebu denied any talk of being interested in acquiring Philippine Airlines, however, noting that it would likely face significant antitrust hurdles.
