Azerbaijan: World Bank mulls establishing new competition regulator

The World Bank is reportedly considering the establishment of an independent competition regulator in Azerbaijan, say reports.

World Bank Private Sector Development Specialist Gahir Dahani told reporters Monday that an individual, national competition authority would be the only way to properly enforce competition policy.

The establishment of an agency would “provide an independent and unbiased assessment of the manifestations of monopoly,” Dahani said.
