The Investigation and Prosecution Service of the Belgian Competition Authority (BCA) has approved on 20 February 2020 the concentration by which P.L. Van Merksteijn Beheer BV – through Van Merksteijn Steel Belgium Holding BV – acquires sole control of Intersig NV. The merger was notified on 6 February 2020. The application of the simplified procedure was requested. Both parties are mainly active in the production and (wholesale) trade of construction steel products. Following the concentration, P.L. Van Merksteijn Beheer BV will acquire sole control of Intersig NV and its subsidiaries by acquiring the 50% it did not yet own. In its decision of 20 February 2020, the BCA finds that the conditions for the application of the simplified procedure are met and that the notified merger does not raise any objections.
