Bell and Rogers issued no action letter for Maple Leaf Sports buy

Canada’s Competition Bureau has issued a No Action Letter to BCE Inc. (Bell) and Rogers Communications for their acquisition of a majority interest in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, Toronto Maple Leafs Network Ltd., and Toronto Raptors Network Ltd. Bell and Rogers are vertically-integrated provides of media and telecommunications services, including internet and television. The Bureau has said that the Commissioner is “actively reviewing” industry concerns surrounding the concentration and vertical integration in broadcasting.
