Brazil: Medical Devices Inc raided on antitrust worries

Brazil’s antitrust enforcer has raided several medical device makers and retailers based on suspicions that the companies may have rigged bids for government purchases and fixed prices for sales to hospital groups and health insurers.

The General Superintendence at the Administrative Council for Economic Defense, or CADE, searched the facilities of companies that make implantable orthotic and prosthetic devices in eight cities across Brazil on Tuesday.
