Bulgaria: Dominance abuse lands energy firm millions in fines

 |  January 27, 2014

Bulgaria’s top energy firm Energy-Pro Grid has been fined more than $186 million for abusing its dominance position, say reports.

The nation’s Commission for Protection of Competition issued the fines after energy rival V2M issued a complaint to authorities regarding Energy-Pro Grid’s alleged involvement in delaying a project.

Reports say V2M accused its competitor of delaying an agreement procedure that would allow V2M to roll out a renewable energy production plan.

The Commission found that Energo-Pro Grid blocked energy access because of that accession delay.
