Canada: Bureau fines Cathay Pacific for price-fixing

Canada’s Competition Bureau has issued a fine of nearly $1.5 million to Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd following the regulator’s probe into the sector’s surcharges and allegations of price-fixing. The airline pleaded guilty to the Bureau’s charges. As the watchdog continues its probe, it has issued more than $20 million in fines to various airlines; the penalty given to Cathay Pacific was for surcharges on air cargo shipments between 1999 and 2003, according to reports.
