Canada: Competition Bureau joins efforts to bring construction bid-riggers to justice

The Competition Bureau of Canada has stated it is looking into Quebec’s construction industry, which is currently experiencing a slew of bid-rigging and cartel scandals. The Bureau says it will be “keeping tabs” on Quebec’s Charbonneau inquiry, which is currently hearing testimony from accusers who say construction companies have been colluding in wide-spread bid-rigging, as well as maintaining ties to the Mafia. The Bureau, however, cannot use witness testimony from the inquiry in its own investigations or charges.
