Canada: Telus scores buyout of Public Mobile

 |  December 1, 2013

Telus Corp. will now be allowed to acquire Public Mobile following clearance by the Competition Bureau of the wireless merger, say reports.

In a statement, the Bureau said the buyout is unlikely to harm competition in the market in which Public operates, in Southern Ontario and Montreal.

Telus is one of three startup wireless firms that launched operations following a 2008 spectrum auction.

The companies did not disclose financial details of the deal.
