Canada/US: Medical equipment merger passes FTC test

A merger between Canada’s Nordion and US’s Sterigenics has reportedly received antitrust clearance by the US Federal Trade Commission after the regulator sent a request for more information on the deal.

    Reports say the acquisition of the Canadian firm was under investigation by the FTC but Nordion announced Friday that the deal has how been approved. Nordion also announced Friday that Canada’s Competition Bureau will not challenge the deal.

    Nordion is a leading supplier of medical isotopes, used in imaging technology. Sterigenics is a medical sterilization company.
