The Competition Commission of India has approved the proposed merger of Welspun Global Brands into Welspun India. Approval was also granted for spinning off Welspun India’s marketing business into Welspun Retail. Welspun India is Asia’s largest terrycloth towel producer, and the world’s second-largest producer. It had supplied the Wimbledon Christy towels for the past three years.
