Charles River Associates Hires Former DOJ Antitrust Official Peggy Loudermilk as Vice President

Charles River Associates, a consulting firm known for its work in economic, financial, and management advisory services, has added Margaret “Peggy” Loudermilk to its leadership team. The company announced that Loudermilk has joined as a Vice President in its Antitrust and Competition Economics Practice, strengthening the firm’s growing focus on competition-related work.

    Loudermilk arrives at Charles River Associates from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, where she most recently served as Assistant Chief of the Economic Regulatory Section. According to a statement from the firm, her move reflects CRA’s effort to deepen its expertise in handling antitrust and regulatory matters for clients facing scrutiny from authorities.

    CRA President and Chief Executive Officer Paul Maleh said the firm was pleased to welcome Loudermilk and highlighted her more than 20 years of experience in antitrust economics and regulatory analysis, per a statement released with the announcement. He noted that her background will contribute to the firm’s ability to advise clients on difficult competition issues.

    During her time at the DOJ, Loudermilk worked on a range of cases involving mergers, business conduct and cartel investigations. According to a statement from Margaret Sanderson, CRA’s Vice President and Global Practice Leader of the Antitrust and Competition Economics Practice, Loudermilk played a key role in both civil and criminal matters and gained deep insight into how enforcement agencies approach evolving competition concerns. Sanderson added that her experience will help clients better understand regulatory expectations and develop more effective compliance strategies, per a statement.

    Loudermilk joins an antitrust team that already includes former senior government economists such as Dr. Nate Goldstein, who previously worked at the DOJ, and Dr. Alison Hole, who came from the Federal Trade Commission. According to a statement from CRA, the group’s combined experience covers some of the most closely watched areas in modern antitrust enforcement, including digital markets, horizontal and vertical competition theories, and coordination between U.S. and international regulators.
