Chile: Antitrust procedures accelerated at CNDC

 |  September 15, 2015

Chile’s Ministry for Economics and Public Finances has ordered for all proceedings and procedures employed in combatting monopolies and the abuse of dominance to be accelerated, charging the National Commission for the Defense of Competition (CNDC) to go ahead with all ongoing and pending investigations.

The CNDC has been commanded to carry out all of the functions and tasks “which promote an efficient advancement and undertaking of administrative procedures” as stated by the Commerce Secretary’s official resolution, signed by Minister Augusto Costa.

Among the tasks to be accelerated are the “calling and carrying out of testimonial hearings and/or interviews with alleged perpetrators, whistleblowers, victims, witnesses and experts, as well as the taking of written depositions”, in which the agency will be assisted by “public forces”.
