As concerns rise over economic securities and cross-boarder transactions rise, reports say local Chinese antitrust lawyers are benefitting from the trend as state-run companies increase their hiring of legal advisors.
In addition to international lawsuits and other transactions, reports say mergers and acquisitions, antitrust investigations and other competition matters have lead state-owned firms to turn away from hiring foreign lawyers, a practice the All-China Lawyers Association says can compromise national security.
”We will encourage more senior lawyers at the national level to serve as counsels and represent some transnational litigations, especially for the 50 major State-owned enterprises,” the Association Director Wang Junfeng said.
Those litigations include cases of anti-dumping, intellectual property protections, acquisitions and other antitrust issues, he said. Hiring more Chinese lawyers will help companies protect themselves from legal risks when doing international business, reports say.
According to reports, the lawyers’ group aims to train 300 lawyers on international lawsuits, with focuses on international mergers, antitrust and other matters.
