China: HNA Group to buy Swissport from PAI Partners for $2.82 billion

China’s HNA Group, parent company of Hainan Airlines, has agreed to buy the Swissport ground and cargo handling company for $2.82 billion from PAI Partners.

    Swissport will remain as a standalone business within the HNA Group, complementing its existing aviation, airport management, logistics and tourism activities.

    Swissport chairman Thomas Staehelin said the deal will “further strengthen our service offering and global network.”

    The transaction is subject to customary regulatory and antitrust approvals by the relevant authorities and closing is expected by end of this year.
