China: JP Morgan analyst suggest merger for struggling HTC

Taiwan-based technology company HTC should consider merging with telecommunications firm Huawei if it wants to pull itself out of financial struggle, said a JP Morgan analyst for its Asia-Pacific branch. HTC introduced its first smartphone, the HTC One, but the company’s shares fell to a new low in July as the firm posted an 83 percent profit fall. Analyst Alvin Kwock told reporters that if HTC is to survive, it should merge with Huawei to merge HTC’s strong consumer brand and Huawei’s product strength.
