China/Switzerland: Roche confirms China raids

Swiss pharmaceutical giant Roche has reportedly announced that Chinese regulators have raided its operations in China.

    China’s State Administration for Industry and Commerce reportedly raided the company’s regional office in eastern China on Wednesday. While a Roche spokesperson said that “the details of the visit are not clear,” the company vowed to cooperate with the investigation.

    The Chinese agency holds some antitrust responsibilities but representatives for the AIC were unavailable for comment. Some experts say the raid is likely part of China’s crackdown on the pharmaceutical industry.
