China: Telco IT giant receives go-ahead for local buyout

Telecommunications IT firm AsiaInfo-Linkage announced Friday it received clearance from China’s Ministry of Commerce, also known as MOFCOM, to acquire Skipper Acquisition Corporation.

    The Beijing-based firm is now planning a shareholders meeting later this month to vote on the deal, the financial details of which were not disclosed.

    According to a press release, pending shareholder clearance, the merger will result in the privatization of AsiaInfo-Linkage.
